the havana

Background:
Havana rabbits originated in Europe and were first bred in Holland in 1898. Though the actual original parentage is uncertain, it is known that they first showed up in the litter of a female Dutch Rabbit. Who the father was, however, is simply not known. They were introduce into the United States in 1916 and in Eastern Canada in the 1980's.
Description:
These guys are considered to be a medium breed rabbit and will weigh between 4.5 to 6.5 lbs. when full grown. They have a short, rounded body, fairly short upright ears and short soft dense fur that is easy to care for.

i learned an important lesson...

...don't mix rum and vodka. especially when you drink a WHOLE bottle of the little bottles of vodka...you know, the ones that are 40 fucking % alcohol...yeah...i learned that saturday night, fortunately no hangover on sunday but i still felt rather foggy. didn't sleep well last night, either, probably from laying around all day.

anyway, here is a picture of the killer rabbit stapler. enjoy.

important link about bunnehs

this place is located in the uk to help give rabbits a second chance at a new life. many people just abandon their rabbits, or give them away to people who can't really take care of them, but if they are lucky enough to be taken here, they are given love and tlc and most of them are able to be adopted out to loving families who are able to properly take care of them.

rabbit rehome

it's just sad how many people buy pets - of any kind - only to abandon them soon after because it's more responsibility than they thought. PLEASE, IF YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT BUYING A BUNNY, OR ANY OTHER TYPE OF PET, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE CONSIDER ALL RESPONSIBILITIES INVOLVED. IF YOU CAN'T EVEN TAKE THE TIME TO CONSIDER THE RESPONSIBILITIES, THEN DON'T BUY AT ALL!!!

the lion-head

Background: The Lionhead Rabbits were first brought into the United States from Europe in 1999, mostly from England and Sweden. It is generally thought that the Lionhead Rabbits were first bred in Belgium in 1996 and then imported to England in 1998 where they were crossbred with other small animals to develop what is today called the European Lionhead Rabbit; Lionhead Lops were also being developed. There are a couple of thoughts on where the Lionhead Rabbit originated. Some think they were the result of crossbreeding a Swiss Fox and a Belgian Dwarf, while others think they are from the Dwarf Angora. To help get more uniformity in type and size, breeders have been crossing the Lionhead Rabbit with a variety of other rabbits.
Description: The Lionhead Rabbit is a small bunny that has a 'mane'! The Lionhead Rabbit is unique to all other "new breeds" of rabbits. It has the first major mutation in rabbits since 'satin' fur first appeared in a litter of
Havana's in the early 1900's. Unlike most fur mutations that are recessive genes, the Lionhead has what seems to be a dominant mutation that causes the 'mane'. So only one parent is required to have this gene to produce more Lionheads and it cannot be recreated using other breeds!

my wittle bunneh

ok, so here's some picatures of my lil cutie ^^ his name is ricochet, because he'll run all over the place and just jump up and twist in the air for no reason...i call him "ricky" for short. :) he's half lion-head and half lop, so one of his ears naturally stands up, and the other lays down. i also love his little "moustache"...the little bit of black fur around his mouth...for that reason one of my friends calls him "groucho" lol he LOVES to have his nose rubbed, and snuggling and giving kisses. his favorite vegetable is celery. he's so fluffy that when i first got him, you couldn't even see his front legs!

these pictures were taken when he was 2 months old. he's almost 6 months old now.
